ANTONIO DE CURTIS (TOTÒ) | BIOGRAPHY: Antonio De Curtis was born on February 15, 1898 in the city of Naples and died in Rome on April 15, 1967, at the age of about 69. His real name, the complete one was Antonio Griffo Focas Flavio Angelo Ducas Comneno Porfirogenito Gagliardi de Curtis of Byzantium but for obvious reasons it was shortened to Antonio De Curtis which in art was the famous Totò. In reality, his child's name was Antonio Vincenzo Stefano Clemente because his mother was called Anna Clemente while his father was Giuseppe de Curtis. In the year 1933 it was adopted by a marquis and for this reason Antonio and Curtis assumed various noble titles. Italian actor, playwright, poet, lyricist and screenwriter, Antonio De Curtis is considered the greatest Italian comedian of all time even though, unfortunately, his fame and his success came after his death. In fact, during his life many directors, including actors and many people, did not immediately appreciate his comic but also dramatic qualities. Needless to say, his peculiarity was the face with which he knew how to create incredibly unique moments of hilarity and fun. A unique humor of his kind and a great ability to improvise not only in the theater but also in films for television and cinema. He was born on Tuesday and at 7 am under the zodiac sign Aquarius and with a zodiacal ascendant always Aquarius. Totò was considered by critics at the level of comedic actors such as Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin. During his long artistic career he has acted in the theater with over 50 comedies while for the cinema he has made almost 100 films. Many films shot together with the actor Peppino De Filippo, brother of another great actor Edoardo De Filippo but Totò also acted together with Alberto Sordi . You may not know that the reason for his particular chin and nose derives from an accident he had in a boarding school that he attended as a boy and in which he was hit, precisely in his face, by an involuntary punch. It must be said that Antonio De Curtis never loved studying and attending school so much that when he was in fourth grade he was rejected and relegated to third grade. Since then, however, he had a very strong propensity to make people laugh, to know how to be among people by involving them with jokes and monologues. In his love life this great Italian actor had 3 important love stories and exactly with Liliana Castagnola, Diana Bandini Rogliani Lucchesini, Franca Faldini. With the actress Franca Faldini he never married but he lived an incredible sentimental story. It is useless to list all the films of him but you will find the complete list below and it is also useless to list the most famous ones that undoubtedly many of you know. If you also want to read the titles of his theatrical plays, then below you will find a link to the page on Wikipedia, so that you will know many other things about one of the most famous italian actors in the world. Totò, as we said before, died in the Italian capital and received 3 funerals, obviously full of people. He had two children, Liliana and Massenzio, the latter unfortunately on the same day he was born. We leave you now with the list of films and also some awards and recognitions that Antonio De Curtis has received during his professional career which lasted over 50 years. Thanks Totò.
